The Metoko tribe lives along the Congo River. They are hunters who live deep in the rainforest. Angular features and abstract shapes are characteristic of the figures produced by Metoko sculptors. Sculptures and masks serve a wide variety of purposes, from providing behavioral models to encouraging healing and/or promoting peace.
